Insulation

Your home could benefit from a free energy audit conducted by our insulation professionals. It is about time you addressed this issue of poor insulation as it may be contributing to your high energy bills. How? Up to 50% of your energy bill is going to heating and air-conditioning thanks to the gaps in your home’s current insulation. One way you can reduce your monthly utility bills is through upgrading your home’s insulation. Raising energy efficiency in your home just might be one of the simplest and most economical ways of decreasing your energy expenses. We offer a free in-home energy audit to show you where your home is most inefficient- so you can see where you’re actually wasting money.

R-values are the units used to measure how effective home insulation products are. It indicates the insulation material’s ability to resist heat loss or heat transfer. Homes in Closter can benefit from using products with high R-values. Physics explain the importance of good home insulation this way: heat naturally moves to the colder areas of the house such as your attic or basement, and is eventually lost outside. During summer, the reverse happens. Hot air outside moves indoors to your much cooler rooms. Improving your home’s insulation creates a tighter barrier against the unnecessary heat transfer, thus ensuring your home is more comfortable and energy-saving at the same time.

Types of Insulation

The Home Insulators of Closter offers several kinds of home insulation products all priced at very affordable rates. One of our energy technicians will visit your home to carry out a blower test. This easy process helps us know the spaces in your home that are most inefficient. We may recommend one of the following based on the results of the test:

*Batts and rolls insulation

Batt insulation is made of cellulose, recycled paper, rock wool or fiberglass. It comes in many different R-values, and can be a very economical type of insulation method. Nevertheless, we advise you to ask a professional to help you with installation. Fiberglass can be quite difficult to deal with since it causes skin irritation together with other health problems if the necessary precautions are not observed. Also, when it is installed improperly, it can lose more than 50% of its efficiency because of gaps in coverage.

Closter, New Jersey

Closter is a borough in the county of Bergen, New Jersey. Many believe it was the Lenni Lenape people to first settle in the land. Closter is located at a central point and that’s what contributed to it earning its nickname the hub of the Northern valley. The Lenni Lenape enjoyed the land and is productivity before the Dutch invaded the land.

The Dutch invasion had some positive effects. The Dutch were responsible for partitioning the land within the border that Closter lies. Closter was bought by the Nagel brothers.

The name Closter is coined form the Dutch word Klooster which means quiet, monastery. When the Nagel brothers first settled here it was quiet, with very few people from neighboring villages. The topography indicated a sense of protection and isolation. The land was hidden behind Palisades and access to it was limited.

Today, reminders of the Dutch history still lie in the streets of Closter. Most of the streets are named after some of the early settling families. Closter is no longer a town of sprawling farms and plantations that it once was, but is now a suburbia for the upper middle class.

The town has an outdoor shopping experience at the Closter Plaza, an outdoor mall. You may have seen it in the Wolf of Wall Street movie.
