The question we are asked more than any other, once price is settled, is how long the work will take. The answer is almost always the same: one day.
Nearly every job we do is finished the same day we start. That includes attic spray foam, basement and rim joist work, crawl spaces, walls, and most of the time an entire house.
What a one-day job actually looks like
Morning. The crew arrives, walks the job with you, and confirms what was agreed at the estimate. We mask and protect the route in and anything that stays in the work area. Old material comes out if the job calls for it.
Middle of the day. The work itself. Air sealing first where sealing is part of the job, because insulating over an unsealed surface is the most common reason a job underperforms. Then the insulation goes in.
Afternoon. We check the work, clean up, take the waste with us, and walk it with you before we leave.
One setup. One clean-up. One day of your house being disrupted rather than a week of it.
By service
- Attic insulation and attic spray foam — a day, including removing old material where needed.
- Basement, rim joist and floor joists — a day. This is often the single biggest comfort gain in a house and one of the quickest jobs we do.
- Crawl spaces — a day. Tight access slows the work but rarely extends it past one visit.
- Air sealing — a day or less, with no demolition at any point.
- Walls — a day for most homes.
- A whole house — most of the time, still one day. It is a bigger crew, not a longer schedule.
Why we can do this and many cannot
It comes down to having our own crew rather than subcontractors. More than 100 people across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut means we can put enough installers on a job to finish it, instead of sending two people back across five afternoons.
A company that subcontracts is limited by whoever it can hire in that week. We are not, so we schedule to finish.
When it is not one day — honestly
There are three real exceptions, and we would rather name them than let you discover them on the day:
- Heavy removal. A large volume of old, wet, compacted or pest-damaged material has to come out before anything goes in, and sometimes that is a job in itself.
- Very large or complex homes. Some houses are simply bigger than one day, however many people we send.
- Severely restricted access. Occasionally a space cannot be worked at normal pace, and forcing it would mean doing it badly.
In every one of those cases we tell you at the estimate, not halfway through. If your job is going to need two days, you will know before we start.
What you need to do
Clear a path to the attic, basement or crawl space, and move anything fragile or valuable out of the work area. That is the whole list. We bring everything else, and we take the waste away with us.

How long does insulation take?

Do I need to move out?
No. You do not need to leave the house or book a hotel. We work in the attic, basement or crawl space, we mask and protect the route in, and we clean up before we go.
Can you really do a whole house in a day?
Most of the time, yes. A whole-house job is a bigger crew rather than a longer schedule. That is the main thing having our own 100-plus crew buys you – we can put enough people on a job to finish it rather than stretching it across a week.
What would make my job take longer than a day?
Three things, mainly. Removing a large amount of old, wet or pest-damaged material before we can insulate. A very large or unusually complex house. Or access so tight that the work simply cannot be done at normal pace. We tell you at the estimate if we think yours is one of those, rather than on the day.
Is there anything I need to do before you arrive?
Clear a path to the work area and move anything fragile or valuable out of the attic or basement. That is genuinely it. We bring everything else.
When can I use the space again?
For most of what we do, straight away once we have cleaned up. Spray foam needs a short period to cure and ventilate before the space is reoccupied, and the exact guidance depends on the product used. We tell you the specific timing for your job before we start, not afterwards.
Why does finishing in one day matter?
Because the alternative is a week of a crew coming and going, your house open, your routine disrupted and the work half-done in between. One setup, one clean-up, one day of disruption.
